While Greenland, Iceland and parts of northern Spain will experience a total eclipse, people in the UK will still witness a rare astronomical event. At Ainsworth Methodist School Hall, the event will run from 6pm to 8.30pm. Free eclipse glasses and refreshments will be provided, alongside a tuck shop, crafts and games for families attending. Other eclipse events are also being organised across the region. The Heaton Park Astronomy Group has announced a free watch-along event at Heaton Park in Manchester, where special eclipse glasses will be available for visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of the rare phenomenon.
