Craig Bailey, 54, known to many as Kipper, suffered a severe stroke in February which dramatically changed his life. Among those helping to organise the project is friend Andrew Wainwright, who said the response from the community has been overwhelming. The planned extension will be built on an old conservatory and will provide Mr Bailey with accessible facilities on the ground floor. Friends say the new facilities would dramatically improve his quality of life, reducing the risk of falls while giving him greater dignity and freedom within his own home. The fundraising campaign has already raised more than £14,000 towards its £20,000 target and Mr Wainwright urged anyone who can help to get involved, no matter how big or small their contribution.
