The rabbi served as a senior legal authority (known in Hebrew as a "moreh hora'ah") and rabbinical judge in the Sanz-Klausenburg community, one of the major Hasidic groups in Brooklyn.
Rabbi Berger was known for his intensive Torah scholarship, broad analytical skills, and ability to clarify complex legal questions.
Rabbi Berger is survived by children.
