Wrexham’s MP has said a national care service “can’t be for profit” and that a new levy of some sort will probably be needed to pay for such social care reform.
We did it for the national health service back in 1948, and it probably needs something like that.”
He said: “If we’re going to do a national care service, funded in whatever way it be funded in, then I don’t think it can be for profit.”
Asked whether he would prefer a UK-wide care service, Mr Ranger said: “It’s really difficult, I do support devolution.
But in North East Wales, it’s very different to North west Wales, which is two hours down the road, or only 100 miles.”
