A four-day inquiry into plans for more than 1,400 homes on Ruthin Road will take place in September the Welsh Planning Inspectorate has announced. As well as 1,450 homes the 73 hectare Key Strategic Site development – which covers an area of farmland equivalent to 102 football pitches – would also include a primary school and community facilities. Since then the authority has won the legal battle and Welsh Government has agreed to withdraw the LDP. It contends that the super-estate development is strategically important to meet the housing needs of the people of Wrexham. “The site lies outside of the settlement limit for Wrexham, as defined by the UDP,” said Wrexham County Borough Council in its appeal response.
