Bangs pleaded guilty to driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit – specifically delta-9-tetrahydrocannabidol (THC).
Lynn Clark, prosecuting, told the court that Bangs was stopped by police while driving a Vauxhall Astra in Stanney Lane on Sunday, March 22.
The vehicle ‘smelled of cannabis’ and she admitted to officers she had used the drug ‘one or two hours’ before getting behind the wheel.
Ms Bate stated that Bangs had been using cannabis as she suffers with hypermobility and this eases the pain of the condition, she had also been diagnosed with ADHD and cannabis had been ‘calming’ for her.
The mandatory disqualification from driving was likely to have ‘the most serious impact’ on the mother of one, the defence concluded.
