Mariposa, CA– Mariposa County’s only emergency homeless shelter has closed, ending nearly seven years of operations at the Connections facility on St. Andrews Road near John C. Fremont Hospital.
The shelter, operated by the Alliance for Community Transformations, closed July 28 after the organization determined that continuing the program was no longer financially sustainable.
Connections had operated as the county’s only homeless shelter since 2019 and at one point provided shelter for as many as 36 people.
County officials are now looking for another location where emergency shelter services can operate.
The closure leaves Mariposa County without an operating emergency homeless shelter while officials work toward establishing a replacement.
