Colombia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire. DR does not lie on this ring and to my knowledge does not have any known active volcanos on the island for the past 300,000 years. It does have a Northern fault line that runs from Las Terrenas through Haiti (Septentrional–Orient fault zone)And one in the South that runs through Haiti all the way to Jamaica (Enriquillo-Pantain Garden fault zone)So it has happened & will happen again one day (Make sure your blocks, columns, & beams are well reinforced
