Richard Quigley, Labour MP for Isle of Wight West, has written to retailers across the constituency, urging them to voluntarily suspend the sale of disposable barbecues and sky lanterns following the devastating fire at Headon Warren last month.
A temporary voluntary suspension of sales during this high-risk period would demonstrate further leadership and a shared commitment to protecting our Island.”
Tesco clears shelvesRichard has already received positive responses including from Tesco, who confirmed that it has temporarily removed disposable barbecues from its shelves in response to the current drought conditions.
