Work is taking place on the Cammarch and Duhonw rivers, replacing ageing pipe bridges with clear-span structures to allow natural sediment flow and fish passage. "At a time when our rivers face increasing pressures, we are proud to be taking positive steps to strengthen these important tributaries of the River Wye." Before construction began on the Duhonw, NRW specialists carried out a fish rescue using electrofishing equipment to safely relocate wildlife. By replacing them with clear-span bridges, the scheme aims to restore more natural river processes and reduce long-term maintenance needs. The Upper Wye Catchment Restoration Project uses nature-based solutions to improve water quality, revive ecosystems and build climate resilience by restoring river function and connectivity.
