City of York Council bosses approved a nomination from the York branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) to list The Victoria Vaults in Nunnery Lane as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) in a meeting on Tuesday, August 11. He said: “We contend that there is an overwhelming case for listing The Victoria Vaults as an ACV. “We provided evidence of interest of credible parties and a determination amongst local residents to preserve a much-valued asset. Chris Sherrington, co-founder of York Music Venue Network, established in 2019, told the meeting The Victoria Vaults was a dedicated grassroots music venue supporting local and touring artists with a national reputation and hosted over 125 cultural events each year.
