Barratt put forward revised plans in February for the first phase of this major development, comprising 178 homes at the northern end of the site.
Access to the new homes will be via the recently constructed roundabout on Westonzoyland Road, with access to Dunwear Lane being maintained via a T-junction off the new spine road through the site.
Given the roundabout is now in place, Barratt Homes is seeking to change this condition, allowing occupation to begin as soon as the new access has been delivered.
Planning manager Emma Gillespie said: "Details of the access were submitted to the council in February; agreement is expected by the autumn.
The council is expected to make a ruling on this proposed change by the end of the summer.
