Haydon Wick Parish Council advised against leaving branches and hedge trimmings in hedgerows and brooks, warning that it can harm wildlife, encourage invasive species, and pose a fire risk. The council reminded residents this practice is considered fly-tipping. The council stated in a post on social media: "Please use your garden waste bin, compost your cuttings, or take them to your local recycling centre instead. The council clarified that while it manages surrounding public open spaces, Swindon Borough Council and the Environment Agency are responsible for the maintenance of brooks and watercourses. The council's message aims to raise awareness about the impact of improper waste disposal on the environment, urging residents to take appropriate measures.
