Czechia has recorded its lowest average rainfall for the period from January 1 to August 10 since measurements began in 1961, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ). The country is currently facing an average rainfall deficit of around 146 litres of water per square metre compared with the long-term norm. The rainfall deficit follows a dry 2025, which ended as the sixth-driest year in Czechia since 1961. The situation is not expected to improve in the coming days, with sunny and dry weather forecast and temperatures rising above 30 degrees Celsius.
