….As Mahama reorganizes National Security Secretariat; Yaw Donkor heads intelligencePresident John Dramani Mahama has reorganized the National Security Secretariat, also known as Castle Annex or Blue Gate, appointing Major General (Rtd) William Ayamdo as Deputy National Security Coordinator and reassigning former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor to the Intelligence and Research division. Major General Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, replaces Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, who died in the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash alongside Defense Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and six others. Major General Ayamdo brings extensive military experience to his new role and is expected to strengthen the National Security Secretariat’s operational capabilities. COP Razak Abdul-Osman remains in office as National Security Coordinator, while Elizabeth Ama Yankah continues to serve as Deputy National Security Coordinator. The National Security Council Secretariat serves as the coordinating body for Ghana’s security agencies and advises the President on national security matters.
