The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested 40 suspects and seized excavators, vehicles, weapons, water pumps, and other equipment in a week-long crackdown on illegal mining activities across six mining-intensive regions. NAIMOS said extensive reconnaissance conducted at Dadieso, Sefwi Ahibenso, Sefwi Dwenase, Kramokrom, Adjakaa, KKB Village, and surrounding cocoa farms generated intelligence on planned illegal mining operations. The Task Force further destroyed five Chanfang machines, six water pumps, and five makeshift structures allegedly used for illegal mining. NAIMOS said the operations were intelligence-led and focused on disrupting the logistics and networks supporting illegal mining, rather than merely removing equipment from mining sites. NAIMOS said the items were all associated with illegal mining activities.
