Efforts to contain wildfires that broke out in Whitman County this weekend are coming along. The Department of Natural Resources’ latest update estimates both the Wells Road Fire and Palouse River Fire will be fully contained by Thursday. Crews are currently working to mop up the blazes. The agency reported Tuesday that the Palouse River Fire near Colfax was 80% contained at 637 acres. The Wells Road Fire near Malden and Rosalia that expanded to 1,854 acres is 30% contained, according to the agency.
