A stronger security presence was deployed in Swieqi overnight following pressure from the local council and residents, Swieqi Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea Pace stated on social media. Galea Pace said police were joined by members of the Armed Forces of Malta in the locality, with their presence intended to act as a deterrent. The Swieqi Local Council had even invited Malta’s Prime Minister and Opposition Leader to visit and witness residents’ concerns first-hand. Galea Pace said work will continue to make Swieqi a place where residents feel safe and can live peacefully in their homes, describing the latest deployment as another step forward.
