Hosepipe ban extension on the cards as temperatures expected to rise again this weekThe current hosepipe ban has been in place for a couple of weeks, and was set to expire towards the end of the month - now it looks like it could last longer for some countiesView Image Stock image of a person using a hosepipe in their garden (Image: Getty Images/Image Source)It looks like an extension of the hosepipe ban, which was set to expire towards the end of August, might be on the cards, as temperatures are expected to rise again.
A number of water supply schemes across the country are experiencing water shortages and reduced pressure due to low raw water sources or reservoir levels.
But now it looks like it could be extended, as high temperatures are set to return.
The Head of Water Operations at Uisce Éireann, Margaret Attridge, has said that the ban 'could potentially' be extended for certain regions.
