Bengaluru: Schools in Karnataka to remain open on Thursday, August 13, as the Karnataka Associated Managements of Schools (KAMS) withdrew their call for closure of schools in solidarity to the statewide bandh announced earlier over the Cauvery water dispute between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The KAMS said that it would be more ideal to educate the students in Karnataka over the issue than closing down the schools, stressing the academic relevance of being aware of social issues.
KAMs said that the association would provide moral support to the bandh, over the directive to release Cauvery water to the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
The organisation has directed the schools working in the state, to wear black ribbons and black stripes as a symbolic gesture in protest of the release of water.
Protesting against this directive, Kannada organisations had called for a statewide shutdown on Thursday.
