Chelsea Allen, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to one count of theft from a shop when she appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court. Prosecutor Lee Dacre said the defendant – age 37 – was captured on CCTV taking meat from a shelf in the Co-op store on Island Road in Barrow before placing it into a shoulder bag. In total £109.32 worth of meat was stolen, the court heard,Mr Dacre said Allen committed the offence earlier this year on February 1. She took the items to fund her habit.” Magistrates jailed Allen for two weeks and ordered her to pay £54 in compensation.
