'Go back to your own country’ - man knocked unconscious in Barrow assault
['Alec Whitaker']
The Mail | News
Matthew Drury, of Rowan Drive, Barrow, admitted counts of 'assault occasioning actual bodily harm', 'racial / religious aggravated intentional harassment' and 'using threatening / abusive words / behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress'.
The court heard Drury told the woman: "I can call you that because that is who you are."
“Go back to your own country,” Drury told his next victim, "we do not want you here.”
The court was told the South African woman’s partner challenged the defendant before the defendant punched the man 'four or five times' to the head.
Magistrates decided they were unable to pass sentence before the probation service conducted a pre-sentence report in the case.
