Temperatures dipped below freezing at several mountain stations in the Czech Republic before dawn today, with the coldest reading of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius recorded at Jelení in the Ore Mountains. Six other stations across the Jizera Mountains, Šumava and the Sokolov region also dropped below zero, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute reported. The cold snap was driven by clear skies and dry air overnight, but a high-pressure system centered over northern Germany will pull in warmer air today, pushing afternoon highs to 25–29 degrees Celsius.
