Woman accused of election fraud loses lawsuit against SLO CountyAugust 11, 2026By KAREN VELIEA San Luis Obispo County woman, who is accused of election fraud, filed three lawsuits against witnesses and agencies involved in her criminal case.
Gaea Powell lost her case against the SLO County Clerk-Recorder’s Office on Tuesday, according to the ruling.
Powell contends it was inappropriate for SLO County Clerk-Recorder Elaina Cano to tell the Tribune the District Attorney’s Office was investigating her for election fraud.
On Jan. 22, Powell filed a suit against SLO County for allegedly failing to comply with a public records request.
In regards to emails between Cano’s office and the SLO County District Attorney’s Office, the court found the county properly withheld privileged documents.
