Haryana Tops List with 64 of India's 83 Sex Determination Cases in 2025Over 1,400 FIRs filed since 2015, yet the numbers keep slidingHaryana's fight against illegal sex determination is far from over — despite being the country's most aggressive enforcer against the practice, the state continues to top the charts for the wrong reasons. Fresh data tabled in the Rajya Sabha this week reveals that Haryana alone accounted for 64 of the 83 sex determination cases registered nationally in 2025 — effectively one racket busted every six days. Zoom out to a three-year window, and the picture gets starker: between 2023 and 2025, the state logged 106 cases of "communication of sex of foetus," more than half — 57.6 per cent — of all 184 such cases recorded across India. But he flagged a worrying shift — "UP is now becoming the centre of sex determination tests," he said, suggesting the crackdown at home may simply be pushing the trade across the border. More troubling is the state's own internal trend: Haryana's SRB slid from 923 in 2025 to just 900 in the first half of 2026 (January–June).
