Sophie, who has exhibited extensively internationally, now has a vast studio at the centre of the printworks. Joshua MonaghanLindsey Mendick, Vanessa Raw, and Laura Footes were among the first cohort of artists to be successful in their applications to the subsidised TKE Studios. ‘All of us have seen our careers change since moving to Margate,’ says Lindsey. Priced out of London, she and her partner, artist Guy Oliver, came to Margate in 2020 and established Quench gallery, which focuses on early career artists. She had been part of the Hayward’s 2022 Strange Clay and had just installed a solo show, Where the Bodies are Buried, at Yorkshire Sculpture Park when she moved into TKE Studios.
