Residents fight to save 'most cherished' green space from housing developers

The field, reportedly used by the community since 1945, is considered by locals to be one of the village’s "most important and cherished green spaces," providing a spot for daily recreation.
With more than 200 signatures, the petition has gained support from a range of people who live in the area.
"The increase in population density will overburden our roads, local services, and amenities that already operate at capacity."
"St Athan is a primary settlement in the RLDP, and the site would make an important contribution to the delivery of new housing, including a minimum of 35% affordable housing.
"Any application on the site would need to demonstrate how it supports biodiversity and enhances green spaces, allowing the Council to balance environmental priorities alongside the ongoing housing crisis."
