+ ↺ − 16 pxUS Vice President JD Vance personally asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop attacks on infrastructure linked to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) during a phone call on July 31, the Financial Times reported.
According to the newspaper, Kyiv agreed to Washington’s request, including restrictions on strikes against CPC facilities and non-Russian vessels using its Black Sea terminal.
The FT reported that Ukraine’s decision was also influenced by its efforts to secure US approval for the licensed production of Patriot interceptor missiles.
The CPC is a strategically important export route that carries the bulk of Kazakhstan’s oil exports through Russia to the Black Sea.
