Tibetan Parliamentary Official Delegation Begins Visit to Sikkim, Northeast India

Dharamshala, 11 August 2026: Parliamentarians Tenpa Yarphel and Gyaltsen Choekye Gagya of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile departed from New Delhi and arrived at Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, where they were warmly received by Jinpa Phuntsok, Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Officer, and Tsering Wangchuk, Chairperson of the Local Tibetan Assembly.
In the afternoon, upon their arrival at Hotel Tibet in Gangtok, the parliamentarians were warmly welcomed with ceremonial white scarves (khatak) and traditional tea by staff of the Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Office; the President and members of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement (BRDL); representatives of Guru Lakhang; representatives of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) and Regional Tibetan Women’s Association (RTWA); representatives of regional associations, including Chushi Gangdruk, U-Tsang, and Dhomey; and staff of Hotel Tibet.
The parliamentarians are scheduled to undertake official programs and visits to various areas under the jurisdiction of the Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Office beginning from 12 August 2026.
