Spider-Man: Brand New Day has raced past $1 billion at the international box office, cementing its place among the biggest cinema hits of the year and putting the superhero blockbuster within striking distance of even bigger records, Cape {town} Etc reports. The Sony-Marvel film has now reportedly collected $1.67 billion (about R27 billion) worldwide, with more than $1 billion coming from international markets outside North America. That makes Brand New Day only the 16th film ever to pass the $1 billion mark internationally. Spain, Peru and Italy have produced similar milestones, while Brand New Day has also overtaken No Way Home in several other markets. There is still a significant distance to cover, and box-office momentum inevitably changes as a film moves further into its theatrical run.
