The Blues & Symphony Come Full Circle On ‘Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience’ (ALBUM REVIEW)
['Jim Hynes']
Glide Magazine
It seemed predestined that Morgan’s name would eventually grace a blues album.
Genuine familiar Delta blues classics populate about half of the fare, with more contemporary additions in the back half of the album.
Given the artists performing these songs, however, this is pure blues without the adornment of blues rock.
This is the first time an orchestral project with multiple blues artists has been done.
“Somebody’s Knockin’” is a song written by but never recorded by J.J. Cale.
