70 0In an evolving maritime security landscape, international partnerships remain critical to strengthening capabilities, sharing expertise and advancing shared interests in safeguarding the maritime domain.
In this regard, Kenya Navy hosted defence representatives from the Republic of Korea and Japan in separate engagements at Kenya Navy Headquarters in Mombasa on 11 August 2026.
The engagements provided an opportunity to transform shared maritime security interests into practical areas of cooperation, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral defence relations, enhancing maritime capabilities, building institutional capacity and exploring new avenues for sustained naval cooperation.
Later the same day, the Defence Attaché of Japan to Kenya, Commander Nishoka Terumichi, also paid a courtesy call on the Commander Kenya Navy at the Kenya Navy Headquarters, Mombasa.
As part of the visits, the foreign delegations toured various departments of the Kenya Naval Training College and The Kenya Navy Hospital, where they received briefings on their respective operations and capabilities.
