The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested three suspects linked to the shooting and murder of 61-year-old Mount Elgon MP aspirant Nathan Masai Wasama, who was shot at his home in Tuikut, Cheptais, Mt Elgon Constituency in Bungoma County on Thursday, August 6. Preliminary reports indicated that one of the pillion passengers alighted, walked into Wasama's shop, and shot him before fleeing with his accomplices. Wasama's killing came a few weeks after he publicly declared his intention to contest the Mt Elgon parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election. He has survived a murder attempt before, in 2024, when gunmen attacked him in the Kapcheshari area in the same county.
