NET Web DeskThe Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), has strongly condemned the alleged arson attack at Tokpa Naga Village in Champhai, Kangpokpi district, on Tuesday night, in which around 10 houses and a church were reportedly set ablaze.
According to the Council, the incident occurred at around 9:30 pm when armed miscreants allegedly entered the village and set fire to residential houses and the place of worship.
The Council also expressed concern over reports that security personnel were stationed only a few metres from the affected area, despite the locality being considered a sensitive zone.
It questioned whether there had been lapses in operational preparedness or possible dereliction of duty on the part of security personnel.
The Liangmai Naga Council demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible and called for a swift, impartial, transparent and time-bound investigation into the incident.
