The dedication of the restoration of Our Lady of Refuge chapel was celebrated Saturday morning August 8 by the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians and the Brother of 6 Charities. Brothers of 6 worked for many months to refurbish the old chapel. The Spanish missions in the area included Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, which baptized many of the people. The La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians has called this land home since time immemorial.” The Brothers of 6 were introduced to the tribal leader through a member of the Brothers.
