A 60kg tuna may have played a role in the death of professional diver Redeemer Grima, after his diving equipment was reportedly found lodged in the fish’s mouth.
The 41-year-old Rabat man died on Monday while carrying out underwater works near St Paul’s Islands.
Investigators suspect that during his second dive of the day, a large tuna became caught on a hook that formed part of Grima’s equipment while he was around 30 metres underwater.
In a striking development, the tuna was also reportedly found dead, with Grima’s diving equipment still lodged in its mouth.
Lovin Malta once again extends its condolences to Redeemer Grima’s family and loved ones.
