The newest arrival, part of a conservation breeding programme, is now nearly two months old and thriving under the care of foster parents Diego and Zorro—a same-sex penguin pair.
Amber Cookson, penguin keeper at the Oceanarium, said: "We're so happy to introduce our penguin chick to the world.

While not known for lifelong pair bonds, Humboldt penguins tend to be monogamous during the breeding season.
Humboldt penguins face threats from habitat loss, climate change and hunting, and their numbers continue to decline in the wild.
