Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran has tendered his resignation and will complete his current term, but will not seek reappointment.
According to a Reuters report, the decision came after Noel Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts, opposed the move.
Noel Tata wanted Tata Sons to remain unlisted in the future, while Chandrasekaran was not agreeable to the condition, according to the reports.
Chandrasekaran's Tata Sons TenureChandrasekaran took charge of Tata Sons in 2017, succeeding Ratan Tata.
The development also comes at a time when the relationship between Tata Sons and Tata Trusts has been under increased scrutiny.
