The controversy erupted when examination material allegedly became available before the first shift, with reports at the time saying questions and answers were circulated through WhatsApp. The investigation subsequently widened, with arrests including Ranjeet Mandal, Deepak Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Deepak Srivastava and Krishna Kumar. After the leak, JSSC suspended its empanelment and issued a show-cause notice over alleged connivance.
