United Way of North Central Iowa’s annual Kicks for Kids Shoe Drive provided new shoes to more than 1,050 children across the area this summer, including during a recent distribution event in Charles City. Three distribution events were held as part of the 2026 drive, beginning July 21 in Mason City and followed by events Aug. 6 in Charles City and Forest City. “The Kicks for Kids Shoe Drive is a great example of what can happen when our community comes together to support local children and families,” said Jen Arends, chief executive officer of the United Way of North Central Iowa. The organization credited local businesses, organizations, donors, community partners and volunteers with making the shoe drive possible. United Way of North Central Iowa works with organizations and community partners across the region to address local needs and support individuals and families.
