Households who live near proposed routes for “super pylons” from Aberdeenshire to the Highlands have been promised £2,500 off their electricity bills over 10 years.
Kate Matthews, from near Laurencekirk, is co-founder of the Save Our Mearns campaign against the SSEN project.
Mearns Tory Councillor Tracey Smith also lives near the proposed north-east line which would run from Tealing to Kintore.
Further £250-a-year discounts will be offered to residents who live near new or upgraded substations in areas including Fort Augustus and Broadford on the Isle of Skye.
“It is a moment of national renewal – upgrading what was built largely in the 1960s for the modern age to bring down electricity bills for households across the country.
