In principle, the export of Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine has already ceased to be a hypothetical project: the first delivery took place in 2025. This means Azerbaijani gas would not necessarily have to be used exclusively for immediate domestic consumption in Ukraine. Ukraine could become another European destination for Azerbaijani gas, although it is unlikely to become the main market. Experts believe this route could make it possible to combine Azerbaijani gas with gas arriving in Greece through LNG terminals. Azerbaijan faced attempts to accuse it of supplying Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine while presenting it as Azerbaijani gas.
