Plans for the Clifton Marsh Solar Farm at Clifton Marsh Farm, off Preston New Road, near Clifton, were backed by Fylde Council's planning committee in 2025. Now, Fylde Borough Council has issued a formal decision notice granting planning permission for the 49.9-megawatt solar farm following the signing of a Section 106 agreement. The newly issued permission confirms the solar farm will operate for up to 40 years. The agreement was signed by Clifton Solar Project Limited, SUEZ Recycling and Recovery Lancashire Ltd, landowners John Richard Tomlinson and James Cunliffe Tomlinson, Lloyds Bank PLC, and Fylde Borough Council. The decision notice was issued on August 4 by Fylde Borough Council's planning department.
