The proposals relate to an existing academy pitch at the club's training base and would see four new LED floodlights installed alongside a covered viewing structure capable of accommodating around 500 spectators. Planning documents submitted by the club state that the improvements are required to meet updated academy criteria under the Elite Player Performance Plan. Under the plans, the covered spectator facility would be positioned on the halfway line of the existing show pitch. Blackburn Rovers say attendances at academy fixtures are not expected to increase as a result of the development. The academy has operated at the Brockhall site for decades and is used by Blackburn Rovers' youth teams for training and matches throughout the season.
