Hyderabad: Telangana is set to replace manual vehicle fitness inspections with machine-oriented tests to ensure zero error before issuing clearance certificates. The department is introducing Automated Testing Stations (ATS) to make vehicle fitness checks more scientific, transparent and less dependent on human intervention. Human intervention to be reducedAt present, fitness inspections are conducted under the supervision of Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs). According to the department, automated testing could also address concerns over superficial inspections and the alleged involvement of middlemen in the fitness certification process.
