DOUGLAS COUNTY — Voters are sending incumbent clerk of courts Michele Wick back to work to lead the county office where circuit courts and the public meet, according to unofficial results of the Tuesday, Aug. 11, partisan primary.
Without a Republican challenger, Wick will be the only candidate on the ballot for the Nov. 3 general election for another four-year term.
The office works with the circuit courts, the court commissioner, the district attorney’s office, public defenders and attorneys, law enforcement, the jail and the public.
After 24 years working in the office — 12 years as the elected clerk of courts — Wick told the Telegram she had considered retiring but decided to run again largely to see through software implementation project between the county and the state.
Her primary challenger, Char Kastern, worked in the Clerk of Courts Office for 10 years.
