In the top of the fifth the Saints took advantage of a pair of errors to take a 2-1 lead. Alejandro Hidalgo came on in the bottom of the fifth and struck out the first hitter of the inning. He hit a solid liner into right on a 2-0 pitch, but right to the fielder to end the inning. Both of the runs charged to him were of the unearned variety thanks to a leadoff error in the second inning that led to a 2-0 deficit. Ramiro Dominguez hit a one-out single and scored the second run of the inning on a double from Luis Fragoza before most fans had reached their seats.
