…Inuwa Yahaya’s Reforms Strengthen Revenue Base, Boost Fiscal Capacity – GIRS ChairGombe State generated N17.55 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the first half of 2026, representing 89.9 percent of its N19.53 billion target, as the state continues to strengthen its domestic revenue base and fiscal capacity. The performance reflects the sustained impact of revenue reforms implemented by the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, aimed at improving revenue mobilisation, expanding the tax base, enhancing compliance and strengthening the efficiency of revenue administration. Figures from the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) show that the state generated N9.48 billion in the first quarter against a target of N9.76 billion, representing 97.14 percent performance. In the second quarter, GIRS recorded N8.07 billion against the same N9.76 billion target, representing 82.66 percent, bringing the total revenue generated between January and June to N17,553,849,743.91. Speaking on the development, GIRS Chairperson, Aisha Adamu, FCNA, attributed the sustained growth to the administration’s comprehensive reforms designed to strengthen revenue collection, improve taxpayer compliance, broaden the revenue base and enhance institutional efficiency.
