Authorities are again reminding Australians that cutting up trees without a permit can lead to hefty fines, after four men were allegedly caught in the act.
The men, aged 37, 33, 31 and 24, were stopped on Monday for illegal wood cutting in a reserve in the Gowrie Park area in northern Tasmania.
The men each received on-the-spot fines of $852.
Across the country, a similar focus targeting illegal firewood collection is in motion.
