Asia-Europe ocean rates are easing from their early-July peak, with prices down around US$1,000/FEU and 15 percent to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. Transpacific rates have remained unexpectedly strong, with East Coast prices reaching around US$9,400/FEU and West Coast rates around US$7,400/FEU. The early start to ocean peak season is translating into the anticipated early come down on Asia-Europe lanes. Transpacific rates had been moving in tandem with Asia – Europe prices since the early peak season start in late May. China – N. America prices climbed 6% last week to about $6.00/kg and China – Europe rates increased 2% to $4.11/kg.
